The Philippines' rich cultural diversity is celebrated with resounding rhythms of drums, metal gongs, and the splendidly sublime stringed rondalla instruments. As the exotic music fills the air, dancers serve a vibrant and colorful feast for the eyes... Magkaugnay, translated as interconnectedness, features creative and first-time collaborative work led by Kayamanan Ng Lahi with northern hill tribe celebrations of Institute of Native Arts, lowland Spanish-tinged festivities by the Rondalla Club of Los Angeles and the southern islands' time-honored cultural heritage by Pakaraguian Kulintang Ensemble. The four accomplished groups, rooted in tradition and inspired by post-modernism, interconnect to celebrate the Philippine spirit in music and dance.
